Reform of NHS Dental Services – Survey 1

The Oral Health Improvement Plan (OHIP), the wide-ranging engagement between Scottish Government and the profession, highlighted a broad consensus within the sector for an administratively simpler and more clinically focused system.  We believe that in order to do this we have to first start with the list of treatments that we think should be included in a new system and then once that is finalised we can move to discussions on payments.

With that in mind we have developed a list of treatment items that we think should form the basis of a revised system going forward.  This list of treatment items is only a draft at this point, as we are keen to get as much input as possible from the profession on what should be included before finalising the list of treatment items.  We see this is being an iterative process with more than one opportunity for you to feedback on proposals as we go forward.

Please note that orthodontics has not been included in this list of treatments as it will be considered in a separate phase of reform.

A copy of the full proposed list of treatment items can be viewed below and the survey can be accessed here. The survey will be available to complete until 23:45 on 31 July 2022.
